Forums: Grand Lodge > Template for crunch?

I'm wondering if it might be useful to have a template to designate that a page is discussing purely crunch. I know we don't want crunch, but there are a few vestiges of it left on the wiki. Most of these are what we put into the infoboxes of creatures, npcs, deities, etc (types, subtypes, domains). I think it might be helpful to have a template that explains that what one is reading is intentionally not written from an in-game perspective. What do others think?

I actually think we may want to delete these pages and remove internal linking from these pages. We're essentially repeating the game rules content word for word on these pages, and unless the crunch operates differently in the Pathfinder Chronicles campaign setting than it does in the baseline rules, it doesn't fall within the scope of the project. I can see articles on classes, races, and even some outsider subtypes like devil, demon, angel, archon, etc, since there is clear flavor to support this crunch in the setting, but anything that is purely crunch should probably be deleted. As such, I think any page which might warrant the suggested template be considered instead for deletion. But I could be off base on this. What do others think?

The only reason I disagree with you, Yoda, is that these crunchy things that are categories in the infoboxes and such are what some people may be searching for. They may not really know anything about the deities including their names, but know that they want to worship a NG diety... and want to make a decision on it with all the information they can with only owning the core rulebook. Sure they can go back and forth from the PRD, but going back and forth makes it less convenient to users..

Crunchy elements can still be used in infoboxes and categories without having their own pages, though. Someone could see that Sheylin is NG and link to other NG deities without needing to see what is essentially a rephrasing or even a copy/paste of the rules text for what that alignment represents. If we have a page for that, and creature types, subtypes, etc. what distinguished when something should have an article and when it shouldn't? At the moment the Scope of the project states that unless something is unique to the Pathfinder Chronicles campaign setting, it doesn't belong here, and if it is, the general information should be as brief as possible before providing specific details about the setting. In the case of most of our crunch articles, there is nothing to distinguish Golarion from any other D&D or Pathfinder campaign with regards to the topic.

Discussion of what crunch elements should and should not be included aside, I have made {{Crunch}} as requested in the OP. Similar to {{Cleanup}}, this template should be added to any article or section that contains excessive crunch. It will add the article to Category:Crunchy articles. I am also revising our No crunch policy to reflect the addition of this template, though no additional changes to the policy are being made. I will be proposing a revision to that policy soon and will incorporate the above (and any resulting) discussion into that revision.
