Source: Pathfinder 5: Sins of the Saviors, pg(s). 88-89

The Night monarch is the divine herald of the goddess Desna. While a goddess of dreams and travel, her herald is more than capable of defending Desna's faithful when necessary.

AppearanceEdit

The Night Monarch looks like an enormous butterfly with a wingspan of forty feet. Its wings are brightly colored though the exact color and pattern changes with every sighting though they always exude sparkling stardust. The head of the night monarch looks more like a brightly colored moth than a butterfly. Its tail is also unusual as it ends in what look like three peacock feathers.[1]

Habitat & EcologyEdit

As a herald, the Night Monarch goes where ever Desna commands, and so does not have a fixed habitat. Similarly, the star monarch's (see below) habitat is unknown. As an outsider, the Night Monarch is not a part of the natural order. One interesting feature is that butterflies and moths seem attracted to it. When the Night Monarch takes flight, it is accompanied by butterflies scattering into the sky.[2]

AbilitiesEdit

Adhesive Spray
The Night Monarch can spray a sticky adhesive to entrap its opponents.
Dream Dust
The dust from the its wings can put opponents to sleep.
Poison Flesh
The flesh of the Night Monarch is so poisonous that if an opponent bites the Night Monarch, he or she soon suffers the negative effects of the poison.[1]

Star MonarchsEdit

Believed to be the semi-divine offspring of the Night Monarch, the star monarchs are a race of rare butterfly-like creatures. They resemble their progenitor in appearance, but lack the Night Monarch's advanced intelligence. Seeing a star monarch is believed to be a sign of good luck by most people, especially followers of Desna.[2]
